In the spirit of the global Design Festivals
Many of us are eager for the (eventual) return to international travel and the prospect of attending our favourite design weeks and festivals.
Design Joburg Collective (DJC) takes its inspiration from these very design showcases. More specifically, we’re keen to fashion DJC on the more popular fringe events such as Fuorisalone in Milan and Déco Off in Paris. Actually, the team at our sister show Clerkenwell Design Week, have been instrumental in helping us realise DJC and in curating an experience that our fans are really craving.
DJC will be a mix of both global and local design that is uniquely presented within showrooms and pop-ups, across a neighbourhood-sized platform… a first for South Africa.
With a mix of both indoor and outdoor attractions, the idea is that visitors will be able to explore all of this at their leisure over the three days, and within a 1 kilometre radius in Kramerville.
We’re keen for style-savvy design enthusiasts to take to the streets and immerse themselves (masked, sanitised and socially distanced) in all that DJC has to offer.
For non-takkie wearing visitors, we’re organising a shuttle service, although the allure of carefully curated food and drinks stands – dotted across the neighbourhood - might persuade the less energetic to rather take to the sidewalks.
We hope this gives visitors a better understanding of what the buzz is about around DJC. Do keep your eyes peeled on our platforms as more is unveiled.
